Update on my PC

Saturday, November 13th, 2004

It turned out that it’s not the power supply. I guess I should have known, as the LEDs on the motherboard still light up. At this point it seems most likely that the motherboard is fried. This itself isn’t too bad, as my motherboard and processor are about 2 1/2 years old now and [...]

The More Things Change…

Friday, November 12th, 2004

I don’t tend to post political comments on my blog, but Andy Hunt dug up this wonderful, 84 year old quote that seems oddly relevant now:

When a candidate for public office faces the voters he does not face men of sense; he faces a mob of men whose chief distinguishing mark is that they are [...]

Argh… My Computer Just Died

Wednesday, November 10th, 2004

This morning my PC’s video display suddenly shut down. When I tried to reboot it, it got through the initial boot sequence and died again right after it switched into graphics mode during the Windows startup. It turns out that quite a few people [...]

Eclipse Shortcomings

Sunday, November 7th, 2004

In the last 4 months or so, I have made several posts on Eclipse, which I had started to use at my previous job. Overall, my experience with Eclipse up to now had been fairly positive, with the exception of some minor quirks. Unfortunately, this has changed significantly in the last two weeks, at my [...]

Job Update

Sunday, November 7th, 2004

The first two weeks at my new job have passed very quickly. I am still very happy and confident that I have made the right choice. The people are smart and pretty easy to get along with, both on my team and in the rest of the company (at least as far as I can [...]
