Merry Crispness

Sunday, December 25th, 2005

Merry Crispness - or Christmas, Hannukah, Winter Solstice, or whatever you may or may not be celebrating.

On December 25th we celebrate Newton’s Birthday because Newton actually was born on December 25th. We call the holiday Crispness because it’s about keeping your mind crisp. And it’s not a coincidence that it’s the same day as Christmas [...]

Preschool almost evicted

Sunday, December 18th, 2005

Last Wednesday we almost lost the preschool that our two daughters go to. The preschool was subletting from a private elementary school that apparently wasn’t doing all that great. Once more, Gmail released a bunch of new features. I am particularly excited about the new Gmail Shortcuts. These show up on the right hand side of the page, right above the sponsored links, when Gmail was able to parse a mailing address or a tracking number from the email. I order a lot of [...]

Typo Theme Contest

Sunday, December 11th, 2005

The Typo Theme Contest ended on 11/28, and the final results were posted two days ago. I didn’t win anything, but my humble contribution “opyT” admittedly pales in light of the many awesome themes that were submitted by others.

Most importantly, over 120 Typo themes resulted from this competition! The themes are very diverse, and everybody [...]

How to scare a file sharer

Wednesday, December 7th, 2005

Here’s an absolutely hilarious story on how someone stopped a file sharer in a hotel from hogging all the bandwidth. If this really happened, it is one of the best pranks ever.
